A tiny visitor...

What a charming nest!!
We are blessed to have a special visitor to our front porch!! A Hummingbird has chosen to nest under our eaves and I have been doing some work in that area and didn't notice at all (duh); I just knew that this hummingbird was taking quite an interest in me as I worked.

Get back human, or I'll buzz you!!!

Clearly she was very agitated to have me near her nest and once I sat down to take a break I looked up and saw the nest, but initially thought, 'oh no' it must be some sort of hideous infestation, hornet, spider, bee sack!!!

Then the mother just popped up and plopped into the nest in defiance of my sitting near her babies. Take that you horrible HUGE human!!! I had just put the feeder up too and she is buzzing around it and her nest like the protective mom she is...good for you Ms. Hummingbird!!!

I am so excited to have her choose this spot to nest and am going to move our seating out of this area for her. I hope she will stay and that all goes well with her babies!!

Have a great day!

Blocked no name bubble hat...

Here are the pics that I took today of the finished hat. At this point I have decided to just get it published with no embroidery, but it is still a possibility at a later date! My friend Pam is so, so excited to make the hat and is chomping at the bit for the pattern...almost there Pam!! I did notice the Jimmy Beans Wool isn't currently carrying the Bubble Ball, but I did find it at Fabulous Yarns in case you don't have one just hanging out in your stash. Don't forget to post you name suggestions here for consideration and so without further adieu I present the blocked, no name, bubble hat:

Bubble hat blocking..

Well here you go as promised...the bubble hat is blocking and I have only spritzed it to avoid soaking the bubbles, so we will see how this goes. I didn't want the bubbles to get heavy with water, so wish the hat luck!! Keep those great name suggestions coming and remember if you have trouble posting let me know and I will be happy to post for you!!! Be sure to POST THOSE COMMENTS here on the original post for consideration...have a great day!

Hat on head pics...

As promised here are some hat on head pictures and I am going to post some blocking pics today too! Keep the ideas coming!!!!

I am NOT going to soak the piece, as I think the bubbles will stretch the yarn and sag more than I want them to, so I am going to put it on an 11" plate and steam and spritz...wish me luck!

I do think the piece needs some light blocking, so it will have a little more slouch.

I am in love with the I-cord top and the way the bubbles swirl around the top.

I am still considering the possible embroidery angle what do you think??

Be sure to post your contest entries on this post, so that they will be in one place...thanks for playing!!

A contest...

I have been working on a hat with Be Sweet yarns fun and challenging Bubble Ball!!! I have now cast off, woven in ends and am beginning to write up my notes into some sort of comprehensive pattern, woot woot!!

I am going to be adding a little embroidery on this fun hat too and currently the name is ??? and I have decided to ask for your help, because you are all do creative!
I am having a give away of this finished pattern, as well as a second one of my patterns to the person who can give this fun hat a name. I am posting just some teaser pics to get the wheels turning and will have a finished picture up in the next couple of days with the embroidery and on a model for your viewing pleasure.

The pattern will include instructions on placing the bubbles, as well as clear cut embroidery layouts. Of course I always encourage my customers to make things their own by adding a bit of themselves to my designs and this fun, whimsical hat is no exception!!

The rules are simple:

1. You can post a suggestion once a day through midnight Monday May 21st, this gives you 8 chances to win, so post a new idea everyday!!

2. Have fun!! All names MUST have the word Bubble used at least once

3. The top 3 names will be posted as a poll for voting on Tuesday the 22nd by 10:00 am PST (you can only vote once)

4. Voting will end May 25th at midnight

5. The pattern will be delivered via ravelry and the winner will need to contact Battle Born Knits via email with their Ravelry user name and 2nd pattern choice at battlebornknits@gmail.com

Good luck to everyone and thanks for participating!! Let the games begin!!
